Session Description

With the buildings and construction sector responsible for approximately 40% of energy and process-related CO2 emissions, its role in achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement is critical. This year especially marks a pivotal moment, as countries submit their updated NDCs in the lead up to COP30. It is essential that these updates drive accelerated progress and close the gap to limiting warming to 1.5ºC.

In this session, we aim to capture the transformative actions taken by industry and governments that are shaping a resilient and decarbonised built environment. We will highlight best practice and global examples, including countries like the UK that have already submitted their NDCs, evaluating their specific ambitions to reduce emissions from the built environment. The discussion will also feature industry leaders sharing how they are advancing the transition through their asset portfolios.

Echoing Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago's key focus for COP30, we must prioritise real-world implementation. The panel will delve into the transformative measures underway and the additional actions needed to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement and unlock the full potential of the sector.
