A pioneering exchange on advancing agricultural resilience through risk assessment tools that can drive investment into climate-smart food systems in Brazil and beyond.
Will convene key stakeholders to consider how a new generation of agricultural risk management tools can catalyse investment in climate-resilient food systems. Building on ground-breaking EU-wide risk assessments, which quantified agricultural losses of €28 billion annually and projected €40 billion by 2050, the session explores how a similar methodology could be adapted for Brazil and the wider LATAM region. Experts from Howden, CNSeg, PlanetaryX and the ICS network will engage with Brazilian actors to define the scope, design, and potential of such a study. By applying robust risk metrics like annual average loss (AAL) and probable maximum loss (PML), this initiative seeks to create a compelling financial case for agricultural adaptation and resilience, incentivising investment across farmers, corporates, investors, and financial institutions on the road to COP30.
