Delivering the Global Climate Action Agenda

National governments make climate agreements at the UN Climate Change Conference, known as COP, or Conference of the Parties.

They will be delivered by everyone.

Through the Global Climate Action Agenda, we bring the whole of society into the effort — governments, businesses, cities, regions investors, civil society — and drive change people can see in their communities.

The Climate High-Level Champions – officially appointed by COP Presidents to lead the Action Agenda – help accelerate action so climate promises become tangible: cleaner air, cheaper energy, resilient neighbourhoods, and more.

Scaling Global Climate Solutions

Scaling Global Climate Solutions

Solutions to the climate crisis already exist. Our job is to make sure they spread – connecting the people, funding, and knowledge needed to scale what’s working across every sector and every region.

People want to see cleaner energy, safer cities and real protection from climate shocks. My job is to bring climate action out of conference rooms and into daily life. I am looking forward to working with all stakeholders to make this happen.”

The Global Climate Action Agenda: hundreds of initiatives turning climate commitments into measurable results.

The Global Climate Action Agenda unites businesses, cities, regions, investors and civil society worldwide to turn climate agreements into reality. The ultimate goal? A net zero, inclusive and climate resilient future for us all.

Recently revitalised and guided by a new five-year vision, the Action Agenda currently coordinates some 500 major climate initiatives – covering everything from clean energy and forests to food systems, resilient cities, climate finance, and beyond.

These aren't pledges or promises. They're active initiatives with timelines, investment and measurable outcomes.

Acting on climate change is both a growth opportunity and a key route for driving socio-economic development. We know the goals and what needs to be done. So this year must be about delivery through implementation and investment. This requires a global “mutirão”, collective leadership from the whole of society.”

Past Climate High-Level Champions

The Climate High-Level Champions role was created at the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris in 2015. Two Champions serve two year terms – with one Champion representing the current COP Presidency and the other Champion representing the incoming Presidency – so momentum carries from one year to the next.

Each year, the Champions lead the Global Climate Action Agenda on behalf of their COP Presidency and with the support of UNFCCC.

Since 2015, 10 leaders have served as Champions, building the partnerships and foundations that underpin the Action Agenda today.
