Midway through COP29, real economy actors hone in on stronger national climate plans and an ambitious finance outcome

Week one of COP29 saw continued climate action and leadership from businesses, investors, cities, states, regions and civil society . As the daily Top of the COP newsletter demonstrates, progress and momentum continues to build across sectors and geographies, with non-State actors calling for high ambition COP outcomes, including a fair climate finance deal and strong investable national climate and adaptation plans from all countries.

In an updated edition of the report Whole-of-Society rallies to support strong National Climate Plans , the Champions presented the insights and tangible support offered by non-State actors for the design and implementation of high-ambition, investable, implementable Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) to attract investment and spur further action.

The report summarizes real economy actors and civil society leaders’ insights on the importance of national climate plans to signal a clear direction of travel, attract investment and spark faster climate action, bringing economic, social, and environmental benefits to all.
