Former UN Climate Change High-Level Champions for COP25 and COP26, Gonzalo Munoz and Nigel Topping will join a group of renowned global leaders charged with supporting the Race to Zero and Race to Resilience.

The 14 Global Ambassadors, representing a range of expertise and knowledge across regions and sectors, will help the Champions accelerate the implementation of zero carbon targets and build resilience in urban, rural and coastal areas.

Each Ambassador has been carefully selected as an individual deeply committed to transformative change and addressing the climate crisis. They have been appointed to help amplify the campaigns, anchor their narratives locally and accelerate action across mitigation and adaptation.

Ahead of the world’s first stocktake at COP28 later this year, the Ambassadors are key partners and help collaborate with the economy, society, and government.

Global Ambassadors include:

Xiye Bastida, a Mexican climate activist and a member of the indigenous Otomi-Toltec nation. She is one of the major organizers of Fridays for Future New York City and has been a leading voice for indigenous and immigrant visibility in climate activism.

Sarah El Battouty, Chairman Founder and CEO, ECOnsult & Founder and Owner, MuBun Sustainable Products. El Battouty is an award-winning architect with 18 years’ experience in the field of Green and Environmental Buildings and Sustainable Development. She is among the first Arab and first Egyptian to be a finalist and awarded Ashden Partner and to receive the EarthShot Prestigious Global Nomination.

Dr Susan Chomba, Director of Vital Landscapes at the World Resources Institute (WRI). Dr Chomba leads the institution’s work on Forests, Food systems and People which includes forest landscape restoration, sustainable agriculture/food systems and thriving rural livelihoods in Africa.

Emma Howard Boyd, Chair of the Green Finance Institute, an Adviser to the Board of Trade,. Former Environment Agency Chair and an Ex officio board member of the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) is a board member or advisor to many organisations which include The Prince’s Accounting for Sustainability Project, the Green Finance Institute, the Coalition for Climate Resilient Investment, the Centre for Greening Finance and Investment, the Council for Sustainable Business, the European Climate Foundation, and Menhaden PLC.
