Catalysing global partnerships to accelerate industrial decarbonisation hubs, with a focus on low-emission steel, showcasing pilot initiatives, and aligning policy, technology, and investment for a net-zero industrial future.
This session brings together governments, industry leaders, financiers, and international organizations to fast-track the development of industrial decarbonisation hubs, with a spotlight on the iron and steel sector, which accounts for approximately 8% of global energy-related GHG emissions. Participants will explore emerging hubs, learn from pilot projects, and identify the policy, technology, and investment levers needed to scale low-emission industrial solutions.
The discussion will highlight successful public-private partnerships, deployment of innovative technologies such as hydrogen-based direct reduced iron, and enabling infrastructure including renewable power, green hydrogen supply, and logistics corridors. Special attention will be given to supporting emerging economies in leapfrogging to low-emission steelmaking. The session will facilitate mutual learning, best-practice sharing, and actionable collaboration pathways among stakeholders, fostering North-South partnerships and aligning policies and investments to expand decarbonisation efforts globally. Through dynamic discussions and real-world examples, the event aims to accelerate industrial decarbonisation and build momentum toward COP30.
