Solutions Take Centre Stage at COP30, Marking a New Era of Accelerated Climate Action. Read it here.
A milestone roundtable bringing together governments, financiers, and utilities to forge consensus on the Climate Finance Principles for Green Grids, unlocking the investments needed to modernise and expand grids for a net-zero future.
Climate Principles to Unlock Capital for Grids will convene governments, financial institutions, and utilities to address one of the most pressing challenges of the clean energy transition: scaling up investment in modern grid infrastructure. Despite unprecedented growth in renewables, inadequate and underfinanced grids risk leaving gigawatts of clean power stranded.
Hosted by the Utilities for Net Zero Alliance (UNEZA) in partnership with the Green Grids Initiative (GGI) and the UN Climate High-Level Champions, this session will serve as a milestone moment to build alignment around the Climate Finance Principles for Green Grids. With interventions from leaders including Francesco La Camera (IRENA), Dan Ioschpe (COP30 Climate High-Level Champion), Jasim Husain Thabet (TAQA), and Alistair Phillips-Davies (SSE), the discussion will highlight how clear principles can harmonise definitions of “green grids” and unlock both public and private finance.
Participants will explore practical solutions to bridge financing gaps, particularly in emerging markets and developing economies, and will help shape a joint Open Letter to multilateral development banks and private investors — calling for bold action to modernise grids and accelerate the clean energy transition.
