On 11 April in Sao Paulo, several Brazilian climate actors convened to discuss how the Global Stocktake can enhance national climate action.

The global stocktake is a critical turning point when it comes to efforts to address climate change – it’s a moment to take a long, hard look at the state of our planet and chart a better course for the future. It will conclude at COP28 in Dubai this year.

The event, organized by CDP and the Climate Champions Team and supported by Climate and Society Institute (iCS), was the first workshop for non-state actors in Brazil and aimed to promote capacity building around the GST and engage relevant stakeholders in the discussions.

During the workshop, states, cities, companies, financial institutions and civil society organizations discussed the stocktake process and other relevant subjects regarding Brazil’s climate action agenda.

Participants included Gonzalo Muñoz, Global Ambassador for the Race to Resilience and Race to Zero campaigns, and Professor Roberto Schaeffer who presented Brazil’s net zero by 2050 transition plan, and the role that non-state actors play in this transformation.
