The Kadin Net Zero Hub, an initiative by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia), has taken a significant step towards supporting Indonesian businesses in their transition to net zero emissions by joining the Race to Zero campaign as an Accelerator.

Race to Zero is the largest campaign, rallying non-State actors to take immediate action to halve global emissions by 2030 with over 13,500 members around the globe.

“We are excited to have KADIN’s Net Zero Hub join as the latest Race to Zero Accelerator” says H.E. Razan Al Mubarak , UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP28. “As Indonesia’s first private sector-led body, KADIN’s Net Zero Hub will help create the enabling environment needed for businesses – from heavy industry to SMEs – to take urgent and immediate climate action.”

After several phases of selection, in January 2024, Kadin Net Zero Hub is honoured to be accredited as one of the selected 30+ Accelerators of the Race to Zero campaign by committing to these criteria:

Pledge : Pledge to reach net zero emissions no later than 2050 and contribute to halving emissions by 2030.

Plan : Publicly disclose a transition plan outlining actions you will take by 2030. Proceed : Take action to achieve net zero, aligning with our targets and contributing to sector Breakthroughs .

Publish : Report publicly our progress towards targets and actions, contributing the UN Global Climate Action Portal

Persuade : Align our policies and engagement, including membership associations, with the goals of halving emissions by 2030 and achieving net zero by 2050.

“The existence of this assistance program is crucial for companies committed to achieving net zero,” stated Dharsono Hartono , Head of Kadin Net Zero Hub. “The Kadin Net Zero Hub will help to measure, identify, and carry out the plans of these companies to reduce emissions.”

Aligned with Indonesia’s target of achieving net zero by 2060, Kadin Net Zero Hub, as an Accelerator, will:

  • Provide a platform for knowledge and information exchange among the national private sector.
  • Help broaden horizons and share resources to realize a low-emission ecosystem.
  • Support Indonesian companies in measuring, identifying, and carrying out their emission reduction plans.

Furthermore, in February 2024, the Kadin Net Zero Hub (KNZH) participated in its first meeting with all the other Race to Zero Accelerators. This important gathering provided a valuable platform for KNZH to not only connect and network with other leading organizations committed to climate action, but also to share its own innovative initiatives and best practices with a global audience. This exchange of knowledge and experience serves to strengthen the collective efforts of the Race to Zero campaign in achieving its ambitious goals of halving global emissions by 2030 and achieving net zero by 2050.
