Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC) is proud to announce its acceptance into the Race to Zero campaign, establishing itself as one of the pioneering African organizations to receive this prestigious recognition.

“We are honored to be recognized as a Race to Zero Accelerator,” said Joseph Murabula, the Chief Executive Officer of KCIC. “We are eager to continue mobilizing various actors, particularly the business community, to fast-track the shift to a low-carbon economy.

This milestone underscores KCIC’s work in accelerating climate transition in Kenya and across East Africa.

The Race to Zero campaign has a global membership of over 13,500 and seeks to drive action by mobilizing stakeholders from all sectors towards halving global emissions by 2030.

"We are thrilled to have the Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC) join us as our first East African Accelerator in the Race to Zero” says H.E. Razan Al Mubarak, UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP28 and Ms. Nigar Arpadarai, UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP29.

“Africa has a unique role to play in driving a transformative economy as we work towards our goal of a just and equitable transition to net zero emissions. We look forward to working with KCIC on this agenda, and collaborating on innovative solutions, particularly with SMEs in the region"

In this role, KCIC will tap into the resources and networks provided by the campaign to assist entrepreneurs in the region in setting and realizing their climate goals.

By joining the Race to Zero, KCIC commits to rallying key stakeholders from the business community—including startups, micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises, entrepreneur support organizations, financiers, investors, industry associations as well as corporate leaders—from across the region to take bold action, aligning with global efforts to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.

As an Accelerator, KCIC will leverage its expertise to foster innovation, promote sustainable practices and support the development of climate-smart solutions.
