Energy
The transition to clean energy is accelerating across the world. Yet, global emissions are still increasing at a time when they need to fall around six per cent each year. Action in this decade is crucial to reach net zero and ensure access to reliable energy for 800 million people.
The transition from fossil fuels to clean, more efficient energy sources is already happening faster than you might think - especially when it comes to solar and wind power.
By 2030 we must double energy efficiency, triple renewables capacity and increase the share of electricity over total energy consumption to 30 per cent. We must also dramatically cut methane emissions, oil consumption and production, and the use of unabated gas for power, while increasing the resilience of global energy systems.
For this transition to be global and just, we need to enable developing economies to be successful in the green industrial revolution.
